Hello Guys.
VW Caddy 2016.
I am having an issue where the ESP control module is not seeing the steering angle.
Fault code is - 0166 steering angle sensor no signal.
The steering angle sensor is built onto the rack. The steering angle sensor is working well when I check live values in 44 Steering assist. I see the degrees move when I turn the steering wheel. On the ESP module live values I do not see the angle sensor move.
The vehicle has come to me via a panel beater. Only the undercarriage of the vehicle was damaged and they had to replace the steering rack. They have replaced the steering rack with a brand new unit ordered from VW according to the VIN. The replacement steering rack part number: 1K2 423 055 K.
I asked the panel beater for the original rack and plugged that in. I am then able to delete the fault on the ESP.
Any suggestions on how to get the ESP to "see" the new steering angle sensor?
