Customer brought car in for investigation last week and complaining about intermittent electrical faults which are getting more regular.
1. Indicators not working and sometimes on permanent.
2. Hazards not working.
3. Parking assist not working.
4. Electrical spoiler up all the time with warning light on, won't go down.
5. Lights coming on without touching anything, did this once and had to disconnect battery so it wouldn't go flat.
6. HVAC not working and illumination flickering.
7. Battery warning light flickering when ignition on.
After carrying out diagnostic scan, showing many faults, I concentrated on the complaints what the customer mentioned. Studied scan and see if I could see any common denominator, I see no comms with various control units on the comfort CAN-Bus system. So looked in to that system first.
I suspected central electrics unit because no comms was permanent most of the time, check all wiring OK, sourced a good used one and coded to car, same issues. Did same with central convenience, same issues.
I knew the issue was one of the control units had bad Node inside, but which one?![wondering wondering]()
I started a test plan again using ODIS after clearing all trouble codes and worked on the ones that were left. Test plan to check parking assist wiring from and to central convenience.
Found the parking assist control unit under passenger seat so I could check the wiring.
Parking assist control unit was under water!![bigsmile bigsmile]()
Water had been leaking from the high level brake light in to that location, it was swimming!
![clapping clapping]()
Disconnected the control unit and all electrical faults have gone.![dance dance]()
Just need to get a new parking assist unit and repair the green corroded terminals.
![yes yes]()
Hope this helps anyone in future.
